Spot the Difference
Jamie Oliver has a solid fan base because he speaks a language that appeals to the morals of Middle England.
They trust him implicitly.
If you visit Jamie’s website- www.jamieoliver.com – visit the forums. The folk on there worship him.
I’m not exaggerating- in a number of posts, he is favorably compared to Jesus Christ.
This thread is typical:
Jamie makes a statement and the faithful agree with him. In this case- he proclaims:
”I am a great believer that eating good food and enjoying it around the table with your friends and family is the cornerstone to a reasonably balanced and happy life. If you think that this is a load of rubbish let me know the reasons why and also if you believe that essentially the table is the heart of the home then let me know your thoughts”.
The agreement is total. 136 posts and counting. Any slight deviation from the party line is stamped on mercilessly. Family values all the way. Materialism is the enemy. Right on Jamie.
What would they make of the kind of arrangement outlined by some in this article:
“Maybe one evening every two weeks XXXXX comes home and we eat together. I’m used to it now and it’s fine. I’m exactly what I’ve always wanted to be – which is a mum – and I am busy enough not to worry where he is at night as long as he comes home to sleep. “
Don’t be too hard on this mystery man though. I mean- I’ve heard his down to his last £25 million- so he has to sacrifice his family life to scrape a living. He’s not one of these materialists who Jamie railed against recently.
Perhaps if he followed the advice of Jamie Oliver and put good food and family life first- he’d be a lot happier.
